The Excelano Project is The University of Pennsylvania’s premiere spoken word poetry group. Lindsey was an active member of the group from 2004-2007, performing in six shows and serving as Director from fall 2006 – spring 2007. In 2007, the UPenn slam team (comprised of four EP members: Joshua Bennett, Alysia Harris, Ibrahim Basir and Ben Alisuag - and coached by Lindsey) won the College Unions Poetry Slam Invitational (CUPSI), beating out dozens of collegiate slam teams from all over the nation. The UPenn/EP slam team also won first place at CUPSI in 2009. Lindsey is now (and will forever be) a proud and supportive member of the alumni family.

LEGACY

Excelano poets have been featured at performances at the White House, on HBO’s Def Poetry Jam, at the Nuyorican Poets Cafe in NYC and on Broadway. EP is a unique and beautiful family of poets: diverse, loving, complicated, passionate and talented. Today, many alumni members of the EP family earn their living as professional poets, writers and activists, while others have taken the skills they learned on stage into various careers such as school teachers teachers, doctors or entrepreneurs . They've published novels, memories and books of poetry, earned PHDs and Graduate degrees, and many continue to perform in venues big and small all over the world.
